New bank notes in Thailand |
New series with the image of SM Rama X
The new series of banknotes with portraits of King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, Rama X came into circulation gradually from April 6, 2018 - the 236th anniversary of the founding of the Chakri dynasty - according to a statement posted online by the central bank from Thailand.
This new delivery replaces the current bank notes that have displayed the face of King Bhumibol Rama IX for 70 years, but the old banknotes bearing the image of the late king still have legal tender, the bank said.
The first series of banknotes with the denominations of 20, 50 and 100 baht was put into circulation as early as 6 April 2018, or the day of Chakri.
Tickets of 500 baht and 1000 baht are gradually introduced three months later on the occasion of the King's birthday on 28 July 2018.
Here are pictures showing the banknotes and coins in circulation all over Thailand and all valid until further notice.
